For July 2023, JRC is Giving Back to 1JustCity!

Since 2015, 1JustCity has been loving the underloved, helping over 15,000 people each year who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental health struggles, addiction, hunger or loneliness. Through their four pillars of loving the underloved, working towards reconciliation, growing individual's capacity, and building inclusive communities, they work towards fulfilling their mission to create a welcoming, inclusive community that uplifts marginalized individuals and families.

1JustCity supports three drop-in community centres in Winnipeg’s core neighbourhoods: West Broadway, the West End and Osborne Village. Their services include daily meals, art, senior’s programs, sharing circles, haircuts, showers, laundry, toiletries, and clean undergarments. In the winter months they also run the pop up warming centre in Osborne Village: Just a Warm Sleep.

Their indigenous cultural programs are designed to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of Winnipeg and they work closely with indigenous communities to provide programs, events, and activities that promote healing, reconciliation, and cultural understanding.

Their Housing and Eviction Prevention program is focused on providing support, resources, and advocacy to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, or living in unstable housing. 1JustCity believes everyone deserves a safe and secure place to call home and work tirelessly to connect those in need with the resources and services they require to find housing or keep the housing they may already have.

At 1JustCity, they understand that food insecurity is a significant issue in Winnipeg, and they are committed to feeding the hungry in the community. Their food programs, including a food bank and breakfast, lunch and dinner service, provide nutritious meals and supplemental food hampers to those in need, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Throughout the month of July, purchase cupcakes in-store at Academy, Island Lakes or The Forks, through SkipTheDishes, or online, and 5% of sales will be donated to 1JustCity!
